A Standard as database (SDB) is defined as a standard for which a valid form of publication is a database. Such a standard contains a collection of standardized items, where each item is unambiguously identified within the standard, and will also be provided with address for being accessible on the internet.

TC 3, SC 3C and SC 3D maintain three SDBs:

This SDB contains the collection of IEC standardized graphical symbols for use in diagrams. The initial content of this SDB when it was released in 2000 was taken from the earlier paper-based edition IEC 60617:1996 that has been withdrawn. A number of graphical symbols has been added or modified by applying the procedure for the management of content in SDBs.

The graphical symbols were originally implemented in the GIF format, but later on vector-based format are also provided.

The SDB IEC 60617 is the only IEC standard for graphical symbols for diagrams and is managed by TC 3.

This SDB contains the collection of IEC standardized graphical symbols for use on equipment. Initial content of this SDB was taken from the, earlier paper-based edition IEC 60417:xxxx and has since its release been amended by more symbols.

The SDB IEC 60417 is IECs counterpart to ISO 7000, and is the only IEC standard for graphical symbols for use on equipment. IEC 60417 is managed by SC 3C in collaboration with product committees which apply for a graphical symbol for their applications in accordance with the rules in the ISO/IEC Directives.

IEC-hosted system that includes a common repository with data dictionaries for all ISO and IEC industrial/technical related-domains and that complies with the data model for data dictionaries defined in IEC 61360-2/ISO 13584-42 with an enhancement of its modelling capability adopted from IEC 62656-1.

The CDD is managed by SC 3D in cooperation with Technical Committees having published a data dictionary within the CDD.
